Winter Holiday Scene Painting

October 15-18, 2009 - Waterville Valley, NH

FREE lessons in Zhostovo painting!
FREE stay in the Town Square Condos!

Come to Waterville Valley Resort to paint a series of large mural panels depicting the Russian fairy tale, The Snow Maiden, using Zhostovo techniques. The panels will tell the story of the daughter of Father Frost and Mother Spring, who will melt in the sun's rays if she falls in love.  She ventures out of her protecting forest to join the young people playing and dancing.  After rejecting several suitors, she chooses to fall in love with a young shepherd and faces the inevitable consequences.

The panels will be used for annual exhibition around the Town Square during the winter holiday season.  Your efforts will help to promote decorative painting and provide a lasting exhibit for the public to enjoy while you are having fun with your friends and getting free lessons in Zhostovo painting.  As an added bonus, any chapter whose members participate in the painting may request to borrow the panels for exhibition at a chapter event.  Paint for one day, two days or four days – your choice.

Anyone with basic painting skills can participate.  Tricia Joiner and Slava Letkov will provide the design and some painting instructions.  Enjoy staying for FREE in the Town Square condos while you are painting, as a “thank you” from Town Square.  Students from our Zhostovo seminars will also be helping with this project.  Join us during the fall foliage season and make new friends with painters from the local area and across the nation.  Registration is necessary because of the free condos and space may be limited.
